Iron Core Advantages
As the name indicates, Iron Core Coils are fabricated with laminated iron linking the winding. Because iron features a very high level of magnetic permeability, Iron Core Coils offer a significant size advantage. By achieving the same level of magnetic flux as Air Core Conductors using a much smaller size, these coils offer an efficient and economical alternative for all different settings with unique space limitations.
Selecting the appropriate coil for your needs ultimately depends on the requirements of the individual application. However, there are a number of factors that make Iron Core Coils advantageous, including:
- Low Stray Magnetic Field — Iron Core Coils have low stray magnetic fields, which can eliminate a number of problems. When stray magnetic fields are high, it can interfere with nearby power systems and produce eddy currents in steel.
- Lower Number of Turns in Winding — Because Iron Core Coils need fewer turns, construction can be more efficient and cost-effective.
- Compact Design — As indicated above, Iron Core Coils offer a more compact design, lessening the space requirements for many different applications. This compact design feature also makes them easier to enclose.
